RFID Alliance Lab

The RFID Alliance Lab

The RFID Alliance Lab, housed at the University of Kansas, is a not-for-profit testing facility that provides objective benchmarking reports on RFID equipment. Utilizing the combined expertise of its three partners, the RFID Alliance Lab tests RFID technology and publishes objective reports of the testing results. Daniel Deavours, Research Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator, and other researchers assesses how RFID equipment will perform when placed in a variety of realistic scenarios. The Lab also leverages expertise obtained by ITTC researchers in evaluating Bluetooth technology, creating rapid deployable radio networks, and various other wireless and networking projects.

RFID Alliance Partners

The Information and Telecommunication Technology Center (ITTC) at the University of Kansas teamed with Rush Tracking Systems, a private RFID systems integrator, and RFID Journal, a leading media company, to create the RFID Alliance Lab. These partners bring together various areas of expertise in order to assist supply chain management in finding the RFID technology which is appropriate for their needs.

ITTC ITTC is a Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation (KTEC) Center of Excellence located at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Researchers at this center develop technologies and advance knowledge in the areas of information technology, telecommunications, radar systems and remote sensing. Their focus is concentrated in six laboratories: Bioinformatics and Computational Life Sciences Lab, Computer Systems Design Lab, e-Learning Design Lab, Intelligent Systems Lab, Networking and Wireless Systems Lab, and Radar Systems and Remote Sensing Lab.
RFID Journal The RFID Journal is the leading source of information on radio frequency identification and its business applications. The Journal provides an online publication, a print magazine, and several annual events that serve to educate and facilitate the RFID community. The Journal's investment has made this lab possible.

Rush Tracking Systems Rush Tracking Systems is an RFID Solutions provider. They offer consulting, systems integration and implementation expertise for RFID solutions. They provide the RFID Alliance Lab with real world RFID experience, including the challenges faced by end users.

The RFID Alliance Lab leverages the strengths of each of these partners to provide the best information for end users. The research is directed by Daniel Deavours at ITTC/KU, and brings an unbiased, rigorous, scientific approach to problem solving. Most of the research is performed at ITTC. The RFID Journal brings an excellent editorial staff to ensure the highest quality reports are generated, and address the questions and concerns of end users. Rush Tracking Systems is involved in the challenges facing small to large-sized companies, and keeps the RFID Alliance Lab focused on solving real problems facing the industry.
